Christ Theological Seminary Philosophy

Christ Theological Seminary, a private, co-educational Evangelical institution, is devoted to the needs of men and women for spiritual, intellectual and occupational pursuits. It is Evangelical in its broad spectrum with particular emphasis placed on the investigation and proper application of the New Testament scriptures—this is to say the hermeneutical approach.

The Seminary has the specific purpose of extending the benefits of strong theological training by an ecumenical open-door policy, welcoming students without regard to race, color or religious persuasion. Its purpose is implemented by instructors who are proficient in their field, by a counseling and guidance service. We provide a sound Christ-centered program for daily living. This offers an opportunity for the development of leadership and stewardship responsibility that is required for effective participation in a pragmatic and agnostic society.

Christ Theological Seminary serves as the educational division of the New Covenant Church of the Holy Spirit, Inc., [Evangelical-Liturgical Ethiopian Orthodox] National and International. The parent body of the community has almost a century of service in Westchester County, New York, which serves as the seat of the Apostolic and Archiepiscopal administration.

The Seminary continues its mission to lift the fallen, bring hope to the hopeless and improve the lot of one’s life through the timeless, life-sustaining words of Christ. The Seminary fosters and encourages research in numerous fields of religious scholarship consistent with its philosophy and new thrust in religious education. These endeavors assist in ensuring professional preparations to meet the challenges of “this present age,” by intellectual insights as well as creative and imaginative approaches.

We refuse the mundane and totally reject the concept of the innate quality of failure in humanity. Thus judgment and understanding are achieved through the integration of knowledge and the development of spiritual powers. The flexibility of mind and insight into the problems of human behavior are the concerns of the institution, more than the mere acquisition of skill.
